DF&A figured $1,000 per firefighter at a 7% tax rate, and they estimated about half of the firefighters would take advantage of this. I appreciate a good vote.

What this bill does is it gives voluntary firefighters a $1,000 tax deduction for any damages to the personal property while performing their duties and any equipment that they buy to perform their duties. The bill would give the same benefits to the voluntary firefighters as it does to the paid firefighters we have now. The fiscal impact on this is less than $50,000.
