do because to Senator Wallace's I think this was a good you know good start but I'm wondering if we've reached out to make sure that we've got a great bill
they saw okay i'd be really interested and i'll have to google but i'm really interested in what other states especially around those large military installations so thank you mr chair
a great opportunity have we reached out to any states with this legislature have we reached out to other states some that I'm thinking of that aren't very far from us would be like Fort Campbell Kentucky 101st you've got Fort Hood you know Texas these are some that are real close by that have a huge number of veterans getting out and so I feel like they're going to have a great experience on this I'm curious have we reached out to any VAs in those local areas where we can make sure that what we've got is the great bill that we're wanting to
thank you for that i appreciate it because that was one line of my question i was kind of curious if we've reached out to other states i know when i retired i was working with our local chamber of commerce because i saw a great opportunity to help out veterans bringing them to our state we've got what what veterans want yes is we're in a great spot here I know you had talked about like home base you know right here Arkansas and I think that's a great initiative and I'm anxious to see that continue to flourish and I think this is
passionate as well retiree i retired about five years ago from fort campbell so i know around fort campbell area we've got like a lot of predatory everything predatory lenders vehicle uh predatory uh you know preying on the soldiers as they're getting out or even whether they're in you mentioned nine other states have enacted legislature do you know which those states are i i did not bring the
uh senator wallace and i appreciate uh your passion i'm
mr chair and thank you for uh being here all of you uh representative cozart and
I just had one quick question that kind of caught my eye. The REDI test, it looks like that's a proprietary test. Is there a reason why there's a proprietary test? I mean,
Mr. Chairman. Thank you for bringing this bill. I like it.
the school does it, it's not all of the 6th, 8th, 10th grade.
on the spectrum. So one last one, and this is probably more for you guys. So if in that survey, within the school, a percentage, let's just say randomly, 30% or 40% chose that they would opt out, They would not take it. What's going to happen to those students? Where are they going to be during that class period? What's the plan there? Or what's been done in the past because it should be some history. So that's up to that school?
Representative Nazarenko, Greg, can I ask for a question? Thank you, Mr. Chairman. I'll make it fast as well. So I appreciate you being
there. You said that you already, the department already encourages the schools, but we've had a decline. And so would you agree with the question that I asked earlier? Is the decline because they're just not seeing the value in it? They're not seeing the results? Or is it because of taking up another period of time that could have been Matthew's impression?
there is value that they're just not seeing. I know their concern is running out of time for those requirements with, you know, integrating this. So I think that, would you agree that that's probably what their, you know, line of thinking is of why they're wanting to pull back it may be i think that was really my last question uh is just my concern is that
unfunded mandate that uh again i continue to hear that so um
okay because i think kind of going back to the other question that was brought up when we looked at the shall so it is it is a requirement we're saying you know the school has to do this so it is required i know there wasn't a fiscal impact but thinking that there's not you know it's not integrated per se it's it's an addition to so i'm i'm kind of concerned from mine what i continue to get back from my district is just unfunded mandates. So probably on that where they don't see a, you know, immediate feedback from it, or they're not seeing immediate value. And I'm sure
when when you were there at that ground level what was the estimated time that it took to administer the survey and then which period or which you know section time in the year and everything kind of when was it best that you found to administer and how long did it take as i understand it was usually
and then usually by a health instructor or kind of in that kind of realm the school district would select the person select
provide to them. Okay, thank you. So now have you been at ground level then for the administration of the survey?
talking about it uh one of the things that you had you kind of uh mentioned before was about 250 pre-covid and now that number is significantly lower so i've got a couple questions one on that do you what's your explanation or what would you kind of attribute that to that number
