resolution Thank you, Mr. Speaker Members, today is Farmers Day at the Legislature
And this is an opportunity for us to highlight the contribution of Arkansas farmers, ranchers, and foresters to the state of Arkansas. You know, a week ago during the Super Bowl, there was an ad that had the recording of a speech that Paul Harvey gave a number of years ago. And it certainly caught the attention of the country and I think shed, reminded us of the important role that farmers play in the life of our country.
Mr. Speaker, at this time, I would ask that the members of the General Assembly who are farmers, ranchers, and foresters, as well as all of the farmers, ranchers, and foresters in the gallery, please stand during the reading of this resolution. Mr.

Clerk, read the resolution. Whereas nearly 20 percent of Arkansas' economy is based on food, fiber, and forestry,
and whereas two-thirds of Arkansas' counties rely heavily on farming and forestry as their industrial base, and whereas agriculture and related activities and industries employ one in six Arkansans, and whereas agricultural pursuits in this state generate a value in excess of $16 billion annually and contributes to Arkansas's stable and well-balanced economy and whereas farmers, ranchers, and foresters provide the bulk of the state's wildlife habitat,
practice sound environmental stewardship, and supply community leadership throughout rural Arkansas and whereas the agricultural community contributes a substantial portion of the revenues which finance state and local activities to all the state's citizens and whereas Arkansas's farmers, ranchers, and foresters are deserving of public commendation and appreciation. Now, therefore, be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the 89th General Assembly of the State of Arkansas that the Arkansas House of Representatives expresses sincere appreciation to Arkansas's farmers
for their outstanding contributions to the economy of the state and nation, to the well-being of the people, and commends them for their dedication to the wise utilization of our resources.

Thank you, Mr. Speaker. resolution. Thank you, Mr. Speaker. distinguished guest right up there right up there is an American hero heroes come in all sizes, shapes and forms but this lieutenant colonel up there Brenda McCaslin-Cluck she is a hero I've had the privilege
of knowing her for a number of years. She was a lieutenant when we first met now she wasn't trying to make any kind of social statement when she joined the military she just wanted to serve her country and that she's done quite well the thing about colonel cluck is that if you're with her something's always going to happen we were called up to duty in the fall of 2003 for service to Iraq.
And a lot of things had to happen before we got into the country. A lot of training, a lot of late nights, a lot of hard work. And she was there every step of the way with everyone else in the 39th Infantry Brigade. then one day in early 2004 we get a phone call and at the time she was a major when I was a lieutenant colonel and she said we have company coming to see us at Fort Polk Louisiana and I
said well who is it she said the president of the United States has decided to have lunch with us now I don't know if any of you ever had to prepare lunch for the president of the United States but It's a complicated task, but she pulled that mission off well. President Bush was well-fed, got to meet a lot of great Arkansas soldiers. We got to receive the thanks of a commander-in-chief, and we were prepared for what was next. We entered Baghdad on the night of April the 8th, 2004.
And I say we, there was a march unit called March Unit 5, Serial 5. And as fate had it, I was in a Humvee with then-Major McCaslin, Chief Warrant Officer Ron Angel, and Specialist Tom Petty. We had only been in the city for a few minutes, when, like they say in every movie, all hell broke loose. i can assure everyone in this assembly that probably the calmest person in that vehicle
was right there we were taking fire from every direction we had some people who were seriously wounded i even had an m16 that wouldn't seat a magazine at one point or the good major helped me out, but we got through it. We got through it and we got through everything else of that tour. But the great news about that deployment was that it was during that deployment that
she met her future husband, who's with us today, Lieutenant Colonel Damon Kluck. He is also a great officer, and I'm proud to call him a friend. And they have a beautiful daughter, Annabelle Lee. Folks, when you want to know what's right with America, it's staring us in
Speaker 43

Mr. Clerk, read the resolution. Whereas Lieutenant Colonel Brenda Cluck was born in Russellville, Arkansas,
He graduated from Russellville High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Arkansas Tech University and a Master of Arts degree from Webster University. Ann Juarez, Lieutenant Colonel Cluck, joined the Arkansas Army National Guard in 1985 as a private in the 217th Maintenance Battalion in Russellville. Ann Juarez, Lieutenant Colonel Cluck, graduated from the Arkansas Military Academy and received her commission in June of 1989 and was assigned to the 937th Signal Battalion in Fayetteville
and whereas Lieutenant Colonel Cluck fulfilled her numerous subsequent assignments including Battery Commander of HQ, Battery 142nd Field Artillery Brigade, Company D, 212th Signal Battalion, Operations Officer of the 25th RTOC, and Executive Officer of the 871st Troop Command, whereas Lieutenant Colonel Cluck was the first female to serve as the aide-de-camp to the Adjutant General,
and whereas Lieutenant Colonel Cluck deployed to Iraq with the 39th Infantry Brigade from 2004 to 2005 and upon her return served in the Deputy Chief of Staff Personnel Directorate, which culminated in her assignment as Deputy G-1. And whereas Lieutenant Colonel Cluck has served the past two years as the Personnel Mobilization Branch Chief and the Full-Time Joint Services Support Branch Chief,
and whereas Lieutenant Colonel Cluck's military awards include receiving the Combat Action Badge, the Meritorious Service Medal three times, the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal six times, the National Defense Service Medal twice, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device, and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the 89th General Assembly of the State of Arkansas that Lieutenant Colonel Brenda Kluck be honored for her exemplary military service to the State of Arkansas and to the United States of America, and be it further resolved that upon its adoption, a copy of this resolution shall be presented to Lieutenant Colonel Brenda
