um i've got a few things i'll just go over and then we'll open up to questions if that's okay with y'all so you have before you the report for the um board of examiners of alcoholism and drug abuse counselors small board they meet monthly that's about 12 members they license about a hundred and seventy two individuals under an 88 it fluctuates a little bit the number is like I said it fluctuates sometimes it you know from year to year it may go up one or two but not growing extremely fast some of the things that the board has done recently to increase the number of individuals in this field is working with the various college campuses to hold meetings there and awareness events but also sponsoring continue education and workforce development meetings with the colleges and prospective students to educate them on what the what the counselors do in this field as far as the timeline to get someone licensed like I said they meet monthly so that's a pretty quick process the number of C's required is in line with other states around us so nothing really out of the ordinary there I'm happy to take any questions y'all have or

Speaker 34 8:36
Thank you, sir. We have about, with Home Inspectors, there are about 300, we run around 400 licensees. We did discount their fees this past renewal cycle, last December, because they were building up a fund balance. And with that, sir, we're happy to take any questions.

Representative Rose, you're recognized, sir. Thank
▶ Play Suggest a correction Report an error
Representative Ryan A. Rose Unverified 9:10
you. Thank you guys for presenting this and taking questions today. I read through the questions that were attached with your exhibit. There was a discount that you guys offered for the renewal fees in 24, and I think you extended it into 25. Could you just maybe share with us why you came to the decision to
▶ Play Suggest a correction Report an error
Speaker 45 9:30
make the discount and if you think you're going to keep doing that
▶ Play Suggest a correction Report an error
Speaker 34 9:35
moving forward? We made the discount because home inspectors were building up more than a three-year fund balance. funds have now been combined into one but yes sir we want it we look at that every January we've reduced appraiser fees for a number of years and if we can we hate as I've said we hate to they they look at it every year to make sure that the division won't be underfunded at any point we do that for all three
▶ Play Suggest a correction Report an error
Speaker 46 10:06
of our divisions. Follow-up, Mr. Chair. Go ahead, sir. Thank you.
▶ Play Suggest a correction Report an error
Speaker 47 10:11
Is that a $65 discount for every fee, or is it just the renewal fee?
▶ Play Suggest a correction Report an error
Speaker 34 10:17
It is just the renewal fee. We also eliminated late fees for reinstatements and several other smaller fees, like address change fees and things like that as well. And that's what I was
▶ Play Suggest a correction Report an error
Representative Ryan A. Rose Unverified 10:29
going to follow up with. I was looking at your fees and penalties. And I was just curious if the $65 discount on the renewal, were there other discounts or did any of the other fees, penalties, renewals, et cetera, did
▶ Play Suggest a correction Report an error
Speaker 34 10:44
those increase, stay the same discount? The $65 discount is just for renewal fees. So we eliminated some of the small fees that the board had charged. So as far as penalties, those are set by a disciplinary case. And on
▶ Play Suggest a correction Report an error
Representative Ryan A. Rose Unverified 10:59
that Exhibit 3, you have the fees and penalties listed. Are those just remaining the same that they have been? Yes. Those are not new numbers. They're just, hey, this is what they are, this is what they were previously. Yes, sir. All right, thank you. Thank you, Mr. Chair. Thank you,
▶ Play Suggest a correction Report an error
