78. I appreciate the committee, uh, making a little bit of allowances for me to, to start early here. So sorry, House Resolution 1079 is honoring a young man named DJ Daniel, DJ Daniel was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2018 and given five months to live. Uh,
he has fought valiantly and a few weeks ago he became uh a favorite son of, of the nation when he was given the honor of being an honorary Secret Service agent by President Trump in the State of the Union address. DJ is going to be here in the Capitol today. He's being honored by our Secretary of State's office, as well as meeting with the governor and so even though the time is a little bit short on the process of this, we're gonna have a point of personal privilege, uh, during the uh session today and honor him, uh, as uh, he's gonna be an honorary state Capitol
policeman as well as a DJ Daniel Day here in the state of Arkansas, and I'd

may begin. OK, uh, Representative Mindy McAlinden, House District 10. Good morning, committee. I'm here with the resolution recognizing Down's syndrome Day, um, honoring individuals with Down's syndrome as well as their invaluable contributions to our community. This was brought to me by a constituent who runs the Northwest Arkansas chapter for Down Syndrome families, um, up in Northwest Arkansas we have just shy of 200 families that
are involved in this group, um, it provides critical support, education, and advocacy. They've had. almost 80 events in 2024 to foster um empowerment, lifelong learning, as well as inclusion into the community, um. They serve ages 0 to over 40, so they serve everybody and they have a program with Mercy where they go and they make sure that if you are a parent who has just delivered a child with Down's syndrome, you are getting the resources that you need starting day one. So with that, I would ask for a good vote. Are there

We'll do your other one right after this one. Thank you. Good morning, members, um, Representative Brian Evans from District 68, uh, bring to you this morning House resolution 1073. Uh, on July 4th, 2026, uh, United States of America is going to celebrate its 250th anniversary, uh, the United States Congress established the United States semiquiential commission, uh, working with American 250.org. Please don't ask me to spell that. Um,
To coincide with that, Governor Sanders created the Arkansas 250 commission, but a group of folks together to um Really beef this up so that we can help celebrate this across the United States. The purpose of this, it's a once in a generation opportunity to engage children, students and adults and educational opportunities, civic engagement, public service opportunities and this resolution is just a way to kick that off. I know that the 250 commission has already started meeting and planning. It's gonna be uh a really big time in our
state celebrating this and uh we wanted to run this resolution to kind of kick officially kick it off and we're gonna have uh members from that commission that will be here on Thursday so if we can pass this resolution today, uh, they will be here, uh, to run that and uh have some folks up in the gallery to help us celebrate this and. That, Madam Chair, I would appreciate a good vote. Are there any

68, which my district is primarily the city of Cabot. I do have a little part of North Roanoke County. Uh, but the biggest majority in my district is the city of Cabot, of which I'm extremely proud of and I bring this resolution to you today, uh, as
an honor to them, uh, most recently Cabot was recognized by Arkansas business as a 2024 trendsetter City, uh, for its efforts in technology, security, uh, and also, uh, the city has just gone above and beyond, uh, working with our local stakeholders and our local businesses, creating a lot of innovative initiatives. For community development, economic growth to inspire a better opportunity for local quality of life and sustainable
economic development. Uh, you may remember a couple of sessions ago uh with almost a unanimous vote in both the House and Senate, we passed some legislation to allow our cities, our municipalities to partner uh with ISPs, uh, to be able to, uh, boost their broadband capabilities, uh, Cabot was one of the first ones to do that. that uh they partnered with Connect to first, uh, to provide uh broadband initiatives, uh, which has helped us to improve economic development, improved
healthcare, uh, and create additional access for educational purposes for our school kids. It was a $20 million bond project, uh, he made Cabot one of the very first multi-gig cities in the state of Arkansas. And then once that was completed, the city took on a new initiative for uh economic development and tourism and created um a facility called Game time at the Grounds. It's 128,000 square foot sports facility, uh, has 9 full-size regulation basketball courts, 17
full-size volleyball courts, 27 pickle ball courts. It has indoor soccer, uh, and indoor turf fields for softball and baseball practice, um, before the groundbreaking ribbon cutting before they even had the capability of scheduling appointments, uh, or what I'm gonna call court time, uh, there was already 100 weekends booked out, uh, for, uh, so roughly 2 years' worth of bookings if you come to Cabot, this, uh, at, at any time on a weekend, uh, on that side of town where this
facility is and it is an unbelievable facility. uh, we have people coming from every corner of the state every weekend, uh, including, uh, but not limited to. Governor Sanders, uh, she has told me how, uh, almost every weekend they're there because her daughter plays volleyball and so they're there it's been a tremendous boost. Cabot has really turned the curve on economic development and creating opportunities for tourism in our state and welcoming, uh, just a classifications of people from
all walks of life to come and participate in family activities, so we're really proud of that for them, um. And by that I wanted to be sure and make sure that we honor them for being a trendsetter city for the

you committee. State Representative Mayor Bentley District, uh, 54. I bring to you House Resolution 1074 honoring the Conway Qantas bookcase project that started in 2005. This group, uh, didn't just sit back and look at literacy, they decided to do something about it, so every year they donate 50 bookcases to
children that are in Head Start bookcases with their names engraved books in there, and they've been doing it now for 20 years and this year they did their 1,000th bookcase, so I wanted to honor them for what they've done for their community and what they do each year, um, donating these two kids, a great event. I love to. go and watch the kids get their bookcases and they each get a little stuffed animal to read with when they read at night. So great project and with that, I'd
