Wilkins to come forward, if he would, please. Today we have some very special guests we want to recognize.
They are the Watson Chapel High School Lady Wildcats basketball team and their coach, Leslie Bird. And I would like to ask them to stand, if they would, please.
They're in the East Gallery. Earlier this month, the Lady Wildcats won the 2011 5A State Championship with
a 67-56 victory over Alma.
This was their third straight title in four years. In the House citation to be presented, they are commended for their talent and hard work. As a former teacher at Watson Chapel High School, I am especially proud of the Lady Wildcats. I worked with Coach Bird, who is now in her 22nd year coaching at Watson Chapel, and I probably taught some of the relatives of these girls. I've been a Wildcat fan for many years, and I might add that I live in the Watson Chapel area on Wildcat Drive.
Congratulations, girls, on a wonderful season, and we're proud of you. And, Mr. Speaker, I thank you for allowing us to do this
