Representative Mayberry, would you please go in the table, recognize yourself. And then you may begin. Oh Let's do the amendment first. State Representative Julie Mayberry and I do have an amendment that's very simple. It's just adding co-sponsors to this. Resolution do We have a due pass on. To adopt The amendment All in favor say aye. pose now. Your amendment's been adopted, you may begin. Thank you. Uh, just wanted to take an opportunity in front of the full House of Representatives to honor someone who I think is one of those inspiring stories. Laurie Tudor, who led our Department of Transportation first female director, um, which is an accomplishment to begin with, but then also when you listen to her story and she started off as a clerk. typist, um, that word should indicate it's, it's been a while because we don't really use that term anymore, right? And she started off as a clerk typist, worked there for 13 years. You can read the entire story and the resolution, but then decided, um, being a mom and a wife to go back to school and become an engineer. That is not an easy task. Um, I can't imagine the, the juggling that she did to, to achieve that and then to continue to work for the department. and rise to the level that that she she rose to. She's really a, a beautiful, um, story, and on top of that, when I talked to legislators and asked, Do you want to sign on to support this, so many. Yes, yeah, I didn't even have to get very far in my sentencing, so very well liked, very well, um, received by so many people, um, just making a, a few remarks about some of the things. First of all, she became the director just a few weeks after COVID, and you can only imagine taking on the The, the duties that she was going to have to take on with, with all the changes with COVID. She oversaw the repair that Hernando de Soto Bridge closure. She oversaw development of an RAT fallen worker memorial. She's also received numerous awards, um, all the information's in the resolution and I just um I'm looking forward to having her here with us next week. Hopefully we'll, uh, find a date that works for her schedule and acknowledge her achievements before the full House. Are there any questions? Do you have a question? Is anyone in the audience want to speak for the resolution? Against the resolution. Are you closed for your resolution? What's the will of the committee? Motion to pass all in favor say aye. Houses now. Congratulations, your resolution is passed. Thank you. As amended, as amended. Thank you. We'll move on to House resolution 1006 Representative Ray, please introduce yourself for the. And then you may begin. Thank you, Madam Chair. Um, David, David Ray, State Representative District 69, um, this resolution, House resolution 1006 would be to recognize February 7th through 14th is National Marriage Week, um, this is part of a movement nationwide that is aimed at strengthening and promoting marriage as an institution, and I think the first whereas clause. Sums up pretty well, um, what we're trying to, the message we're trying to send to the public here, um, marriage is a foundational, is the foundational relationship for all of society. Uh, good marriages are the bedrock of strong families, um, and strong families make for strong communities, strong communities make for a strong country and I think it's It is, uh, a good use of our time from time to time to speak out on issues that um are important like this, so many of the issues that we grapple with in the legislature, trying to, to alleviate generational problems. A lot of those things, a big portion of it stems from breakdowns in, in family and uh and in society so I think this would just be a good thing for us to recognize in a positive message to send to the public, and we'll be happy to take any questions. any questions saying no questions, is there anyone here to speak for the bill? Resolution anyone speak against the resolution. Are you closed for your resolution? I'm close. I have a motion to pass, all in favor say aye, oppose no, congratulations, your resolution has passed. Thank you. Moving down the list were to house resolution 1008. Representative Duffield. Please introduce yourself for the record, and then you may begin. Thank you, Madam Chair. Matt Duffield, District 53. Um, colleagues, I recently became friends with a, a very large gentleman who was born in Malvern, Arkansas. And his name is Michael Todd, who is known as the monster Michael Todd in the world of professional arm wrestling. Um, Todd is widely considered the most recognized, respected, uh, arm wrestler in the entire world, and he's from the great state of Arkansas. Um, he started his arm wrestling career. At the Saline County Fair when he was 17 years old. And the world of arm wrestling is something that sits the movie over the top, if those of you remember that was kind of at its heyday and its peak. Was not the most, um, recognized or easy to train for sport and so Mr. Todd actually built His own equipment. Uh, his own custom equipment to train, which ultimately made him, in my view, one of the greatest arm wrestlers ever, uh, which included 23 world arm wrestling championships and 36 national arm wrestling titles. And so I would greatly appreciate it if you would support me in honoring a great Arkansan who now resides in Hot Springs where his training facility is, which I did visit and it's very nice but I did not choose to arm wrestle him that day, nor will I. Are there any questions? Seeing no questions, is there anyone here to speak for the bill? Against the resolution. Are you closed for your resolution? Yes, ma'am, I'm closed. What's the will of the committee? I have a motion to pass all in favor say aye. Oppose no congratulations, your resolution has passed. Thank you, Madam Chair. Thank you. We're going to pass over House Bill 1003. We're gonna go to House resolution 1009. Representative Beatty, please introduce yourself for the record. And then you may begin. Thank you, Madam Chair, uh, Representative Howard Beatty, District 95, Ashley Shico County, um. need to look. It's 1009 is the resolution House resolution 1009 is basically the, uh, forestry day at the Capitol on. The 21st. Uh, but due to, um, Uh, the holiday timing and, and some other um concerns we weren't able to get this through this committee so we can run it on the floor. So I'd appreciate it good, um, a motion from the community so that we can get this resolution on the floor. Do you have any questions, seeing no questions. Is there anyone here to speak for the resolution? Against the resolution? Are you closed for your resolution? What's the will of the committee? I have a motion to pass all in favor say aye, oppose no, congratulations, your resolution has passed. Thank you, Madam Chair. Thank you. Seeing no further business, we're adjourned.
