nothing. Does that help? Mr. Mayberry. Thank you. Hello? I may have to turn this one off. Hello? Okay, I'll just talk about it. So you're referring to the first year student, so it's really only $500?

Legislative Joint Auditing - Educational Institutions — Dec. 12, 2019 (46:54)

I mean, I don't see how we can prevent people from opening a bad email or something like that, but if there's anything legislatively that we need to do, whether that's increasing some penalties or providing some assistance, you'll let us know? or? I definitely

Legislative Joint Auditing - Educational Institutions — Dec. 12, 2019 (46:37)

right decision. I'll say that. Mr. Mayberry. Thank you for giving me another question. I'm sorry. I should have asked this of you. I asked of another lady who was up here, I think was that Hope or Monticello, but is there anything that we as legislators could do that could help?

Legislative Joint Auditing - Educational Institutions — Dec. 12, 2019 (43:44)

Thank you, Mr. Chair. You said you hired someone new for this position. Can you tell me, again, I was trying to write down what is the title of that position, and then who is that person, and what's their background? Did they come from another state? Did they come from within? If you can share some of that.

Legislative Joint Auditing - Educational Institutions — Dec. 12, 2019 (28:52)

their money so I guess it's just the new age of doing things and just trying to look for solutions because more of these situations are unfortunately going to continue to happen. Yes,

Legislative Joint Auditing - Educational Institutions — Dec. 12, 2019 (28:02)

But I always try, what can we learn from this? And do you have any thoughts if there's anything legislatively that can be done that can help prevent some of this fraudulent activity that we're talking about today and that has happened with

Legislative Joint Auditing - Educational Institutions — Dec. 12, 2019 (27:29)

Any questions of the committee? Ms. Mayberry. Thanks a lot for sharing this. When I sat on this committee back in 2015, I don't remember this many stories like this in our audit reports back then. We're seeing this more and more because we just had a school district in, I think, last month or the month before that that had a similar thing. And so, I mean, just as legislators, right now we're just kind of understanding what's happened there.

Public Health, Welfare & Labor Committee (House) — April 1, 2025 (1:21:43)

will be examined? Well, it's a May. The physician and the health care provider, anyone over 60, the physician may offer. This is not a shall. They don't have to do this. That was one of the things that the Arkansas Medical Society asked for us to change, so it is a May, and it just ensures that there's coverage of

Public Health, Welfare & Labor Committee (House) — April 1, 2025 (1:21:09)

that meets at least quarterly throughout the year, And this actually came from the Department of Health as one of the suggestions into our packet that we put together as things that we want to accomplish. So that's where this idea actually came from. And I'd appreciate a good vote. Any questions from

Public Health, Welfare & Labor Committee (House) — April 1, 2025 (1:21:00)

And the only thing that I would like to add, too, is that this did come out of, I co-chair with Clint Penzo the Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Advisory Committee

Public Health, Welfare & Labor Committee (House) — April 1, 2025 (1:19:30)

which is showing tremendous progress. And so that's why it's so important to get these cognitive tests done at the earliest stage possible. I'll let David Cook kind of explain a little bit more. As you know, Alzheimer's is a

Public Health, Welfare & Labor Committee (House) — April 1, 2025 (1:18:58)

and as I mentioned in the beginning, we worked with the Arkansas Medical Society and with Blue Cross to address some issues that they had on the bill. I don't know of anybody right now who is against the bill. I believe we're all neutral, and what this bill will do would make it easier for someone to get an earlier diagnosis on Alzheimer's or dementia, And the need for that is so incredibly great right now because there is actually medicine that can be provided to someone in an early stage of Alzheimer's,

Public Health, Welfare & Labor Committee (House) — April 1, 2025 (1:18:42)

your bill. Thank you, members. State Representative Julie Mayberry, and I'll let David. David Cook,

the long-term economic benefits. So is that possible? Are you working on that? Apparently,

the question then, how many companies, and then the second part of this question, then I'm gonna stop, I know there's other people, but at the end of the report and the conclusion, it says ALA staff, again, recommend AEDC consider developing a verifiable method to capture

discretionary 12 million so we're talking 66 million dollars can you just kind of help me understand specifically what that 66 million dollars does explain a little bit more i'm kind of grasping to understand in-house research and development and from what you just said now i'm even more confused or are we giving one company 66 million dollars and they're doing all the research can you break can you do some sort of breakdown of where that money goes that's that's a lot of
