And Representative Pinter, you are recognized to present your resolution. Thank you, Mr. Chair. Committee members, I appreciate you accommodating. I gotta go to Senate Judiciary right after this, um, HR 1014 is just a resolution, congratulating, um, uh, my favorite team in the state, Mount Home Bombers, uh, on their 5A state championship that they won in 24, so that's all the resolution does. I'll be glad to take any questions. Representative Fallon, you're recognized. Uh Is there anyone in the audience who would like to speak for or against the resolution. Saying none. Do you, would you like to close Representative Painter. I'm close from my resolution. I appreciate a good vote. Representative Allen's made a motion. Do pass Uh We have any further discussion? Seeing none, all those in favor say aye. Any of those say nay? Congratulations. Congratulations, Representative Painter, your resolution is passed. Thank you, committee. Make this. Uh We will Moved to HR 1015. Representative Painter, you're recognized. Thank you, Mr. Chair, committee. Again, uh, very proud of my mountain home bombers. Uh, they were 5A state champions in cross country. I apologize to my colleague Les Warren. They beat his high school in that championship, um, but again, I'm really proud to do this. It's a great day when I can recognize, uh, my high school for 2 championships. So I'd appreciate a good vote. Are there any questions by the committee? Re OK. No questions. Um, is there anyone in the audience who'd like to speak for or against the resolution. Saying none. Are you closed for your resolution? Yes, Mr. Char, yes, sir. Representative Allen. You're recognized. Motion to pass, um, it's a proper motion. All in favor say aye. And he opposed, I know. Congratulations painter. Now we'll just move back to the top. Uh Now we'll move back to the top and go in order. So House resolution 1010 by a representative um Pilkington. And You're a recognized to present your resolution. Thank you, Chairman. Uh, Representative 1010 is to um essentially support what and mirror what the president's executive order was renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, um. Honestly, it's not a massive priority for me, but obviously, I'm always concerned about state documents matching federal documents, and so the federal government's going to do it. I think it's right for the state to do it. If it needs time, the federal government were to change back. I would, it's, I would run a resolution to have the state of Arkansas do the same and change back as well. Um, this is not the first time that bodies of water uh have different names. For instance, the Persian Gulf, if you're in Iran, they call it the Gulf of Iran, the English Channel in France it's called La Mancha. I think I pronounce that correct. Of course, the Sea of Japan is done by 4 different names, uh, by depending on what country you're in, so this isn't really anything new, shouldn't be anything controversial, uh, granted, if I could rename it if I was present for a day, I would call the Gulf of Margaritaville, but that's not me, so, uh, with that, I asked for a good vote and just think it's good for the state to follow the federal government's lead. Thank you. Are, are there any questions by the committee? Uh I have one that's on page 2, Get the exact line number here to help out on line 20 where it says, be it further resolved that state agencies are directed to update official state maps, documents, educational materials, and communications under their jurisdiction, including without limitation websites. Um, have we looked at what that would cost our state agencies yet. I don't know what the cost would be, but I would remind you that this is just a resolution. It's not a bill, so it's just an expression of a feeling of the house. It, it would be. It's just. The language that's used because when we go up to encourage the United States government, um, I think on line 20 it would. Be more appropriate to encourage to update official state maps. To me it sounds more like we're directing it. What are your thoughts on that? I think it's always good for the house to be strong, forceful language when we're directed. Is there any other questions? Is there anyone in the audience who'd like to speak for or against the bill? Saying no Or resolution where we. Are you ready to close for your resolution? I'm closed for my resolution. Thank you, Chair. What's the pleasure of the committee? Uh, seeing no motion. Your Your resolution has failed. Thank you. Next on the agenda is house resolution 10-11 by Representative Warren. You are recognized to present your resolution. Thank you, Mr. Chairman, uh, members of the committee. Uh House resolution 1011 uh is concerning the uh new UA system president, uh, JB Silberia. Uh, it's been more than 13 years since the UA system has had a change in leadership. President Silberia. Comes to the UFA system after a distinguished career in the US Air Force, including serving as the equivalent uh a president of the Air Force Academy before retiring to lead, uh, the Washington DC campus of Texas A&M University, and the Bush School of Government and Public Relations. Sorry public service. Uh, Lieutenant General Silberia is no stranger to leading complex organizations and executing important missions. It's safe to say that with his nearly 4000 hours as an Air Force command. pilot and his command of major operations overseas. He brings a steady temperament and resolve to the management of the 20 campuses, divisions, and units of the UA system. Uh, I want to help make uh President Silveria and his wife Bill Welcome here in Arkansas, and I thought this resolution would be a great start. So I would appreciate. Are there any questions by the committee? Saying none, is there anyone in the audience who would like to speak for or against the resolution. Saying none, what's closure Uh, Representative Warren, are you closed for the resolution? I'm closed. What are the wishes of the committee? Representative Carr has made a motion to pass. Is there any discussion on the motion? All in favor, say I, all the poll say no. Motion carries. Congratulations, Representative Warren. Thank you, um, your resolution is passed. Next on the agenda will be House Resolution 1013 by Representative Pilkington. You are recognized to present your resolution. Last week was National Maternal Health Day. This is just the resolution was unable to get filed in a timely manner, so we're just doing it again. That's it. I'm close. Thanks for the motion. Are there any questions by the committee? Seeing none, is there anyone in the audience who'd like to speak for or against the resolution. Saying none What's the pleasure of the committee motion do pass by Representative Allen. All in, is there any discussion on the resolution? Seeing that all in favor say aye. I oppose I know. Congratulations are the motion, um, the resolution has passed. Congratulations, Representative Pilkington. Next on the agenda will be House resolution 1016 by a representative Shepherd. You are recognized to present your resolution. Thank you Mr. Chair and and thank you for having me here this morning, colleagues this this resolution that I brought before you recognizes the Arkansas Kids Count Coalition. On February 10th they will all be here at the Capitol for kids count day, uh, this coalition represents about 26 different organizations over 100 individuals from across the state of Arkansas. It's a nonpartisan coalition that um sees itself as a voice for children in Arkansas and tries to fight for it, you know, our most vulnerable in the state which is our children and so that I thought it would be wonderful if the House of Representatives could rep uh recognize. ask them why they're here on Monday, February. Are there any questions by the committee? Saying none. Is there anyone in the audience you'd like to speak for or against the resolution. Saying none What are the or would you like to close for your resolution? I'm closed for the resolution. What are the wishes of the committee? Motion do pass by Representative Carr. Is there any um discussion on the motion? Saying none, we have a motion do pass on the resolution, all in favor say aye. I'll oppose saying no. The resolution is passed. Congratulations, Representative Shepherd. Thank you, Mr. Chair. All right. Last on the agenda is House resolution 1017 by Representative McKenzie. You are recognized to present your resolution. Thank you, Mr. Chair. Britt McKenzie, Rogers, Arkansas. I'm here to present, um, my house resolution commemorating national School Choice Week, um. It this is a, a great, great resolution. We've run it previously, um, the governor this this week also did a proclamation and commend National School Choice Week. Uh, the good thing about this, uh, this holiday, it doesn't recognize any one organization, it recognizes like a, a um. A large grouping of those who advocate for school choice on the basis of a lot of it needs, um, school choice has a definition is getting uh is getting the alternative education that your child requires. Arkansas has been a successful, uh, national or uh school choice state for decades, um, in the form of our succeed scholarship and PICA or PICA, um, we have been giving the parents the opportunity to um find the educational system or environment that best fits their students for for years to come. It's just commemorates those parents, those students. And all those administrators, advocates, grassroots activists who have been working hard for decades to to advocate for choice, um, so that their children and students get the best educational opportunity that they can find. So with that, I'm happy to answer any questions. Are there any questions by the committee? Saying none, is there anyone in the audience who'd like to speak for or against the resolution. Saying no. Would you like to close for your resolution? Yeah, Mr. Chairman, I'll be quick. I just want to say thank you, uh, thank you for this opportunity. Uh, it's a great it's just a great opportunity to um to, to, to commemorate and recognize parents who've been working hard to fight for their, their children. So thank you and I'm closed. What are the what are the wishes of the committee? Motion to pass by Representative Carr. Sorry All in favor, say, is there any discussion on the resolution? All in favor say aye. All oppose say no. Congratulations, um, Representative McKenzie, your resolution is passed. Thank you, Chair. Thank you. Um, just so you know, members, we are going to meet at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow. So make sure we have you guys show up again so we have a call on. Now. We got at least 2 or 3 more. We're good. All right, we're adjourned. Good job.
