love that. So today, um, bringing a bill to
try to add the purple alert to what we thought was in legislation of the silver and amber alert. But what we found out is silver and amber alert were not in law. It was an old executive order, uh, that they were being ran off of, so to go ahead and make it all flow very well, we decided to put them all into one bill, uh, the purple alert is for Down syndrome. babies, um, who tend to be runners and if it's OK with Madam Chair, I'll let Miss Tony

speak to that. There you go. Thank you, Madam Chairwoman and committee. Uh, my name is Tony Lindsay. I'm the proud mom of Thomas Gray Lindsey, um, who is a six year old little feisty boy um with Down syndrome, um, and therefore intellectual and developmental delays and disabilities. Um, I think Representative Vaugh and Senator Davis are bringing this very important piece of legislation to you guys for consideration. Um, the purple Alert, as she
said, is very similar to a silver alert or an amber alert, except it specifically designed to help locate. seen adults aged 18 to 65 with intellectual and developmental disabilities, um, often our children can't communicate with you, um, verbally, they're scared of their surroundings, and it's hard for them to say their names or where they're from. This bill will help our law enforcement and our public be alerted quicker, um, know that the children and adults they're
looking for have these developmental delays and disabilities and therefore help reunite the. and bring them home safer and quicker. Are
Speaker 9

there any questions by committee? Representative Torres, you recognize,

just a quick question. Do these uh purple alerts are these available in other states? They are. We
Representative DeAnn Vaught

have modeled this one off of West Virginia and Florida. We did a little bit of both of those, uh, to make it fit our state. So,
but yeah, they do have them in other states. And it's no cost. I mean, it's the

system's already set up. We're just adding another alert to it. Question? OK. I had a question,
Representative Dolly Henley

so this is not really any different from the executive order, other than being in legislation

and then, OK. So I had this out there for a little while, Tony sent me this a while back. They were having trouble figuring out where to put it in
the code because they couldn't find amber and silver, um, and it took them a while to figure out that that was actually just an old executive order. Um, and instead of it being an executive order, it does need to be. be a a piece of code. It doesn't need to just live off of an old executive order, so, uh, she actually helped us with two things at one time, so. That's the way we like it around

First of all, it's an honor to be with you guys this morning, ladies. Um Y'all, this
bill is actually like a two-part. Uh, last week we actually came up with 5 new people that went on our list that our folks that were involved with music across our state. But this bill is a little bit different and I think you're gonna really like this. This is going to be The music appreciation day. Now, back when this started in in
2019, Governor Hutchson was here and the date was put on there for September 1. That was a time where no one In the capital as far as the representative senators were here. And we hadn't got it off the off the ground like we wanted to. Now we're changing the date to March 1 where our fiscal session and also our general assembly that makes, you know, every other year we'll be here to uh hear what's going to go on and, and what we're going to try to do is get local people to come
in on March 1 of every year, every year to uh to actually uh be able to uh play music. And represent all different corners of our state. And I think that it's gonna turn out good and I think it'll be good overall for our capital. Secretary of State's involved in it, so. I appreciate y'all. Are there questions
