▶ Play Suggest a correction Report an error
Speaker 19 3:02

▶ Play Suggest a correction Report an error
Representative R. Scott Richardson Unverified 5:21
in line 30 it's deleting that piece the 165 so that changes it to the 365 that's that's still not
▶ Play Suggest a correction Report an error

So we take no action yet on House Bill 1695 and the Senate Amendment. Representative Painter, you are recognized to present the amendment on House Bill 1555. Do I need to explain what's going on here? I can do that, Chair, if you want to.
▶ Play Suggest a correction Report an error
Representative Stetson Painter Unverified 6:32
Representative Stetson Painter, District 3, Baxter and Fulton County. So, colleagues, after working with Senator Hester and the Municipal League, we've come to an agreement. But we've kind of, at the end of the session, have some gobbledygook we're going to have to go through. So we did not concur with House or with Amendment No. 1. We have two amendments on this we have to do, but BLR has told us to get the bill that we've all compromised with. We have to concur with Amendment 1 first. Then we could go to the next Amendment No. 2, concur with that, and then we get the exact bill what we want. So in doing that, I would make a motion that we would concur with Senate Amendment No. 1 to House Bill 1555.
▶ Play Suggest a correction Report an error
Speaker 1 7:17
All right, let's see if I have any questions from committee members Seeing none we have nobody in the audience speak for against We'll take up your motion any discussion on that motion we have a motion to concur and I Believe we probably need to take these up one at a time so amendment the motion will be to concur in Senate amendment number one to house bill 1555. All in favor say aye. Aye. All opposed, no. Ayes have it. We've concurred in Senate Amendment
▶ Play Suggest a correction Report an error
Representative Stetson Painter Unverified 7:54
No. 1. Thank you, colleagues. Amendment No. 2 is the agreed-out language that we decided with the Municipal League. I'd be glad to take any questions. Any questions? Seeing

Speaker 43 18:04
yeah just to just to confirm the amendment has already been engrossed in the bill and what the and this still is of the time
▶ Play Suggest a correction Report an error
Speaker 29 18:11
frame we in the original bill we'd extended the time frame to perfect liens and file the liens and the title companies did not want to extend those time frames so we went back to the existing time frames made no changes to the time frames for cities to perfect the liens and then of course the other two issues taking out the notice provision with the land commissioner and then the bankers association adding language to ensure that they had notice of the lien any foreclosure process should they have a lien okay I have any questions from

Paul Calvert Unverified 19:07
and turn your mic on. Here you go. Okay, my name is Paul Calvert. Thank you, committee. This is a bill that kind of touches close to an issue that I've had personally. And my biggest beef is that it's expanding the power of the cities to impose liens. And I don't think we should do that. I've had trouble with this myself, and it hasn't been fixed, and the Municipal League is continuing to support the action that has been taken against me that was unlawful. So I don't think we're ready to give the cities any more power. That's all I have. All right. Any questions? Seeing none, thank you for your testimony.
