Rock, Maumail, Sherwood, Jacksonville. Anybody in the audience, please introduce yourself. Go ahead. Thank you. Thank you, Mayor. Come on, Mac.
Thank you, everybody, for coming. I'm going to introduce our staff. This is Estelle Smith. She's been around and part of this committee for a long time. And Judy Stillman, she's our administrative assistant. Diane Torres-Porter, she's our staff attorney. So most everybody's worked with Diane, and that'll be our staff for the committee. You have a packet on your desk for the rules, if you will.
It's pretty much the committee rules that we've passed. If you would take a look at that, and we'll try to get that as an organization later. During our session, we will be meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9.30 here in the old Supreme Court room. Our holding room will be room 272 adjacent here for all who want to come and participate that we can't fit in here.
We've got a pretty good room, pretty good spacing, so we'll have a lot of the people who I think we, you know, most times everybody can fit in here that we've ever had in a transportation committee meeting. quorum must be present five committee members for for us to hold a quorum discuss the committee rules is the next thing on our agenda does anybody have any questions about the rules so what we've been you know trying to go through and and configure for this
COVID situation, and if nobody has any discussion, I would entertain a motion to accept those rules. Motion, second by Senator Eades. All in favor, say aye. Aye. All opposed, like sign. Rules pass. The agenda, if you would, Estelle, you can go over those, how

our agenda items are going to be done through this session. Yes,

sir. Thank you, Senator Johnson.
Can you all hear me? Do I need to? Okay. The agenda will look different this session than it has in the past. There will be a regular agenda, but then you'll see also a section that's entitled referred bills that are referred to the committee will automatically be listed under referred bills. It's the sponsor, the bill sponsor's
responsibility to contact the chair, to contact Senator Johnson, to let him know when you're ready for your bill to appear on the agenda. Otherwise it'll stay on referred bills. Once you contact him, he'll contact me up to the regular agenda only those bills that are on the regular agenda can be considered in that day's meeting and Senator Johnson will only put the number of
bills that he thinks the committee can get out that day say for instance if he puts five bills on there but if he runs out if the committee completes those five bills before the time earned then he can go to what's called the consent agenda. The bills listed under consent agenda are those bills that the sponsor has told Senator Johnson that are not controversial or that the sponsor doesn't think has any opposition. So Senator Johnson will direct me to put that bill under consent. So once
the committee finishes, completes this regular agenda section, if there's someone to run a bill that's under consent, then he or she can ask Senator Johnson to allow the committee to consider the consent bill at that time. However, if one member raises an objection, then it's no longer non-controversial, so it'll move back to the referred agenda. Also, if someone, a member of the public has signed in on the sign-in sheet in opposition to the bill, they have signed up to speak against the bill, then that means there's opposition in that instance.
That's probably the main difference in the agenda that you'll see this session. And the important thing is just only the bills that are on the regular agenda will that day. Is

there any questions about the agenda? I know this is going to take some getting used to for all of us. And trying to get that agenda and the communication between legislators is probably going to be
something that we're going to have to get beyond. is, you know, that contact with the chairman on getting those bills on the regular agenda. That's just what I foresee is going to be. That's just something that's out of the norm for us. And I'm going to hopefully all you guys will help me in that with the House members who have bills and have been in the House. And same way with our members, you know what I mean,
trying to coordinate those things to get them on our regular agenda. So I appreciate everybody coming. Our next meeting is January the 14th, Thursday, if we have anything on our calendar. So that will be at 930 in this room. So we'll see if anything hits our calendar and can get on the agenda. So I appreciate everybody's attendance today, and we are adjourned. unless somebody has something else to discuss.
Any member? No member? All right. Thank you, guys.
