We're not really doing anything official, and we've got five people. I think everybody knows what the score is here. Just a couple things. We're going to do some introduction, adopt the committee rules, and then unless we have anything else, we won't have anything else today, but we'll probably have some bills on Thursday. So first, let me introduce the staff. Emily Maraza. She promised to help keep me out of trouble, and Teresa Maxwell right down here, and then Alex, are you here? Most of y'all probably know Alex. She's written a whole bunch of bills for us for
quite some time. So great staff and we appreciate all the work you all do. Agency folks, y'all want to come to the table real quick and introduce yourselves and Alan

McLean, Insurance Commissioner. I've had a chance to work with some of you already, either in previous roles or in the last several months that I've been Commissioner,
so we're looking forward to working with the committee. Chief Deputy Russ Galbraith, who most of you have probably worked with on insurance issues before, public information officer Jennifer Bruce and our general counsel, Jim Brader. So it could be any combination of us here on behalf of the agency, depending on what's running at a particular time or we may even bring other reinforcements depending on the issue. If some of you may have worked with Booth Rand or some of the other lawyers of our agency and we get into some of the weeds, we will bring in the reinforcements with them
who've been around a while. so just wanted to come and introduce ourselves. We will have a handful of bills, including our general omnibus bill that Senator Irvin, including our general omnibus bill that we don't expect to be controversial, but there may be questions and we always want to answer the questions and be available for that. And so, but, you know, outside of our department bills, which have actually been through the governor's office and kind of approved for us to run, it wouldn't surprise me that you all have some bills or other members will have some bills that apart from our package that you'll be interested in.
And while we officially take neutral positions on anything else, we're always available for consultation and information and can work with Alex and the other members of BLR to help with any language that you may have, that you wanna work with. So we're available, I think we've got a pretty good team of, a great team actually of experts and we can, at any given time, we can be of assistance to you. So we're looking forward to working with you in this session. That's really all I had to do as far as

introductions. All right. Anybody got any questions on the introduction?
Okay. Thank you all for coming. And again, reach out to us or staff anytime. We'll try to get through this as smoothly as we can. Let me also say Senator Teague had to go upstairs, but he's the vice chair, and I know he's been doing this for a while. Let's go around real quick, and the members just introduce yourself, even though we all know each other, but so the staff, in case you haven't been on the insurance and commerce, and tell us a little bit about your experience if you've been on insurance and commerce before. So we'll start up

here with Senator Ingram and his score. Senator Keith Ingram, West Memphis, who's on insurance and commerce in the House,

it. All right. And I'm Jim Hendren. This is my first time in the Senate. I was on it in the House for a couple terms, but it's good to be back. I agree that it is a good committee, does a lot of important work. A couple announcements. Leave your folders on your seat, and the bill's in the folders. We're going to do everything we can to not make this a COVID super spreader committee. The agenda folder contains a list of insurance-related people and so on in the Insurance and Commerce Committee.
During the session, the committee will meet here in 171 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2 o'clock or upon adjournment. So just like we did today, I do think we're going to have some bills Thursday. Senator Irvin, your is getting referred across today and sent down here. So I think they're going to be on the consent calendar, at least that's what you've indicated so far. So I think if you don't know the process, and I've reached out to the people who have bills now, let me or the staff know so we can start getting some things on the agenda in case we have other issues to deal with.
Got to have five members to start and five members to pass something out of here. We do need to adopt the rules. So they're the standard committee rules. They're in your folder there. So if I could have

a motion, Senator Irvin makes a motion. Senator Ingram second. All in favor say aye. Before we vote.

Just a question. So the way these are written right here, it says, shall we govern by the same rules as govern the Arkansas Senate? So the rules that we pass for the committee, those are going to take precedent over this?
Because we do have the additions. Correct. Okay. Yeah. All right. As

long as it's that way. Yeah, that's why it says that. Okay. Thank you, sir. Any other discussion? All in favor, say aye. Aye. Opposed? Rules are adopted. So again, plan on meeting Thursday next week or this week and a couple days after adjournment. Any other questions or comments? All right. We are adjourned.
