We there's been no into safety instance with the other truck with the driver just sitting there correct correct yeah so it's so it's safe to say the same thing would happen if the driver wasn't and drug right step represent Holcomb point. If the initiative that if the front drive so they have to the front driver that doesn't change the circumstances of of the second truck that would have been the fate of the first driver regardless.
Thank you in Mister just that no one's no one's come out against this Highway Park or state please no one's against the bill to our knowledge no one's focus. Any other questions. We'll go back and go back to the audience in his or anyone wants to speak off representative berry thank you thank you Mr chairman and ms Newton and German Holcomb so we approved autonomous vehicles in twenty one correct. Yes and we haven't had any accidents with autonomous
vehicles and there's nobody in the vehicle so I don't see any reason why this would be better than autonomous vehicles that correct. Yes thanks to the fact that there is some human element guiding this and when there is not in the full on autonomous from thank you thank you Mr and I might add to that we haven't had any incidents with our with our times vehicle per. And so I had some officers reach out to me and talk about the safety of vehicles that drive in the rain without the lights being on the lights are supposed to be on when the windshield wipers are going in the State of Arkansas but that's not it an offense in which they could be pulled over for this will allow them to be able to pull him over
get him to turn on their lights a visit with them about safety and things such as that and that's what this bill does. Okay. Any questions from committee. President Tosh you're recognized. Thank you Mr represent make sure I understand so. So it's a secondary offense now and it is I understand you correctly you want to make it a primary offense is that correct I want to be able to yes Sir because of the safety yes I voted with the seat belt before
they can pull somebody over that wasn't wearing secondary low and you would be making a primary laws yes Is that this act number us this bill okay yes I. Representar you're recognized. Recognized up. Motion FOR do pass when appropriate okay any other questions from committee. Anyone here to speak for against the bill. Saying under cenvat twinkle I'm closed I appreciate a good vote

The opposing Lacson hearing none graduates to be thank you Mr terror thank you Committee okay you represent acre you're here to run Senate bill forty seven. Strack against you first thing so Senate bill. Okay. Well here they're very little.
You may introduce yourself and per se. I you Mr chairman on a representative acre I'm here to present on behalf of senator Justin Boyd and representative that Graham like in Senate bill forty seven so I appreciate the committee's already agreed that technology is advancing and that vehicles safety measures have taken quite a turn of the last half century in that effort we
have a a bill here that I'm I'm excited resent as my first bill I relate to the sponsors that I appreciate the opportunity to mess up someone else's bill for my first run as opposed to my own so they're excited about that This bill of. That circuit board as discussed with me at length is a constituent initiated a constituent lead bill it was filed three weeks ago and so far has presented no opposition that was seen in the Senate as it passed unanimously both in committee and on the floor.
This bill title to repeal the law that prohibits leaving a running vehicle unattended to German Holcomb says excitement this will allow you to be able to start your vehicle and enjoy the comforts of heated steering wheels and heated seats without running the risk of a fine so at the current time. Arkansas Code twenty seven dash fifty one dash thirteen oh six so it's a no person driving or in charge of a motor vehicle shall permitted to stand unattended without first stopping the engine locking the ignition and removing the key. At this language as originally
introduced in the nineteen thirties was last visited in the nineteen fifties and I would say that it's very apparent that vehicle safety and technology advancements over the last seven years have innately removed the original concerns of the nineteen fifty language and and I believe that the this bill will remove kind of a undue burden on the government interceding into the personal lives of our constituents so
with that I would like to answer any questions and you Sir any questions from committee. Ventas read thank you Mr I just wanna make sure I understand the bill and appreciate what you explained it'd you're removing just the section I hope that's the case for a it's okay to leave a vehicle running but you're you're not addressing the partner removing of war it's unlocked or unattended vehicle that's on lock that is still going to be in the statute is
that correct just that you can't leave it running that is all right it's law correct me if I'm wrong that is correct yes Sir okay we'll be sure on that thank you. Any other questions. Seeing none anyone here to speak for against the bill. The non ex inaccurate close I'm close for the bills I appreciate a good vote. I'd like to make a motion for do pass okay we have a motion to do pass the discussion. All in favor say aye.
Imposing Lacson hearing none graduation the Bill pass. Thank you I don't see anything else on the agenda the representative Johnson and and And represent Cozart could are not going to be here so we're we'll pass over those any other business come before the committee today if not thank you committee which that is done.
