House Bill Fourteen forty six house bill fourteen fifty two house bill eleven forty two we're gonna pass over those today that lease first upon the agenda Senate bill two sixty five representative Bentley you prepared for that bill.
You're recognized to present your bill. Thank you chairman Collins I've got a very simple bill brought forth from our colleague Justin Boyd over there in the Senate a former member of this committee that we stand greatly so it's a very simple bill to allow continuity so if we have a a one of our constituents is getting this charge on a weekend or at night when the pharmacy is not open this will really help those folks together thirty one day supply of whatever whatever medication or meeting when they're leaving I know for my constituents that live quite a ways from the hospital from the pharmacy whatever to get that
feel when I go home will be very helpful to them so with that's a very simple bill like I said to allow a patient is getting this charge a thirty one day supply the meds that they need to allow them to have continuity of care not being missing them as if they're going to need to be able to take care whatever they've been to the hospital for so I think it's a very simple bill that I'll be happy to take any questions that you guys may have we have some experts here if I can't answer. President will but you're recognized for a question thank you Mister chair I just had one question are some pharmacists my district reached out want to
know will hospitals build open independent outside of the hospital pharmacies with this bill no this is not do that out to simply says that they can fill a prescription of the that the physician they have their own House bills given number for their prescription thank you. President Ferguson recognized. Thank you Mr chairman of I have a question we have a problem being a border city in that a lot of times the discharging physician will write a prescription and he actually is not a Arkansas Medicaid provider
he lives in Tennessee so when they go to the pharmacist they actually can't get their medication until they go back to their primary care physician with this help alleviate that I thank you take care of that problem specifically thank you okay thank you. Residuals to have questions. More so thank you Mr more so just to kind of a point of clarification my understanding is this bill won't. Put a hospital in the pharmacy business per se this is just to handle the discharge patients accept or it's not going to have them.
I guess retail pharmacy no specifically allows you to take care of their patients so they get that they need because I know a lot of my conditions of a long way from the hospital this can be very helpful them specially discharge at night time for that year or on the weekend thank you. Your question represented on the recognized. I'm all of those questions come in represent Bentley hello thank you for running this incentive or what there is a need for a bill like this because it creates a void for
those patients who get out of the hospital they can't get their prescriptions filled on the weekend specially those that live in rural areas and also live outside of the Little Rock Arkansas area where it's hard for them to get a feel the weekend because most offices are closed on a Sunday so if you ever get this chart from hospital on Sunday and if it's not a pharmacist that's open in your area this is Dale I appreciate that represent I took my mom was ninety when I was to bring her home from the hospital the last
thing we wanted to we had to do was go to the pharmacy went thirty minutes being to get the prescription filled in for some I just got out the hospital really another thirty minutes is a long time set the car on right so I think it's is very helpful for constituents and the patience be taken well taken care. Any other questions from committee. Question receive Eubanks recognized for a question thank you Mr chair represent Bentley I think this is a good idea I just had a question I don't did you did you say or did I miss if the pharmacy association had a position on this.
I've not heard any opposition once or okay thank you very much. There's a lady when you have a question. You want to. You're recognized I talked one sizzles Asian this morning and they are in favor of this bill do you agree representative yes yes good question representative Ladyman is there any other questions from committee I would respond with this if not they're probably signed up to speak against it which they're not. Any other questions from committee.
