recognized to start. Thank you, Senator Missy Irvin, District 24. Thank you, members of the committee, for considering this interim resolution. This is a resolution that I created based on information that was presented to us through our subcommittee, Game and Fish Oversight subcommittee of ALC. They weighed in with the federal government. There was some rule changes that were being considered at the federal level. Our Arkansas Game and Fish went to work as well
as a lot of conservation associations around the country to prevent the rule from being changed and directly worked with the Secretary of the Department of Interior, I think, to prevent these rules changes because it would greatly affect our duck population. And so what came from that subcommittee report and meeting was the ability for us as a legislature to also voice our opinion and give input,
and I felt like doing a resolution was a good way to provide part of the public record for the federal government if they do look at changing this rule or get pressure to change this rule in the future. So this is a position that's consistent with the director of Arkansas Game and Fish, the Game and Fish Commission, as well as I think the governor, and she also participated in making some phone calls to the federal level as well.
to prevent this from happening because as you know duck hunting is incredibly important to the state of Arkansas and our duck population matters greatly to support that industry here in the state so I would appreciate a good vote thank you Senator Irvin
