Committee of the Senate and of the House. It's a good bill. It spans the drug courts. We need them. It's a good program. Appreciate a good vote. Members who heard an explanation of the bill, anyone wish to speak against the bill, for

Meeting — March 31, 2011 (1:06:45)

Are we using the taxpayers' money wisely when it comes to state vehicles? So this will allow them to retain

Meeting — March 31, 2011 (1:06:50)

and keep that information, and I would appreciate a good vote. It's a good bill.

Meeting — March 31, 2011 (1:06:14)

have the gps in their car to keep records to record and to track they can't do that currently So they may, in fact, have the GPS system in their vehicles today, but according to the law that we are currently under, they're not able to retain those records. So I guess one could say is the GPS may give an indication of where a vehicle is, but there is no tracking ability. There's no ability to take data and to see, you know, are we using, are we having the best routes?

Meeting — March 31, 2011 (1:06:05)

members may be very clear in this and representative nichols raised some very good questions and i wish i'd answered his question this law allows them those agencies who currently

Meeting — March 31, 2011 (59:42)

our state fleets are doing and to have this ability to do it could potentially save a lot of money for the taxpayers. I'd appreciate a good vote.

Meeting — March 31, 2011 (59:20)

This would allow them to begin to gather, collect, and retain that data for purposes of safety or for purposes of fleet management. Wouldn't you agree in these

Meeting — March 31, 2011 (59:06)

to do it, or anything else? And what we know is because of the permissive language in the bill that DF&A looked at this and said that there would not be a cost. There are, in fact, some state agencies that do, in fact, have GPS in their vehicles.

Meeting — March 31, 2011 (58:17)

I don't know the answer to that question. I know state police worked on this, and I know they do have GPS in some of their cars. I know Department of Correction has made the request, and there is interest in putting this in some of their vans that take prisoners' work, crews' work details. I think what they want to do, this is not unlike what's happening today in fleet management. In terms of any state agency that has requested this, that would have to go out and buy a GPS, I am not aware of any, Representative Rogers.

Meeting — March 31, 2011 (58:06)

It is my understanding that there are certain state agencies that do have this.

Meeting — March 31, 2011 (57:22)

good question, And I hope you're able to get your bill out of education. It's permissive and it's allowable because there are state agencies who actually want this and have requested this. And again,

Meeting — March 31, 2011 (56:44)

and therefore dfna said there is no cost there's no revenue impact to the state of arkansas Wouldn't it be just

Meeting — March 31, 2011 (56:08)

And again, DF&A looked at this. I think this is the reason why it was agreed to.
