We're going to start in. Members chair sees a quorum we're going to start in here the rule from the department of health so with that I'll call Ford Missy tempered. And David Dawson. You guys would introduce yourself for the record and you are recognized to begin. C. Tedford executive director of the board of nursing. Hello David Dawson there are counsel for the. I thank you chair we're here to ask for emergency rule to be approved and it is the purpose of the rule is to issue temporary permits to LPNs there in their final semester of an RN program. I see no questions from the committee without objection repose merging. I'm sorry. This is in center Bledsoe recognized for a question thank you this is tempered a now it is I understand it tell me if this is correct these students from their last semester. As a there eight a LPNs they're in their last semester four and a nurse. But the nursing program to become an RN correct yes so how will they finish I mean how would they finished that last semester are they not going to finish it now they were they're expected to stay enrolled and in good standing in the nursing program most of these individuals work anyway okay as an LPN so it's allowing them to work is an R. and instead of the LPN row one of their in training yes all right thank you very much and I do have a motion at the proper time. Thank you and now Senator Bledsoe I will add that my local county hospital had three of the students they were doing a superb job yeah and at midnight the night the emergency ended and the governor did not renew those people were back downgraded they'll be and therefore could not do the job that they had been doing the last two months so it is a very big need and I thank you guys for bringing that in center ring you're recognized for a question. so under the emergency rules executive order and we were allowed to do this your before us now because that has expired just like what you said my question for Department of Health or are there any other emergency any other rules that might be in that same category that might need to come before us to kind kind of continued to assist with. What we're seeing at the hospitals as far as nursing shortages but there's also other shortages lots of areas. Matt Gilmore department health. Thank. Senator in this is what we've identified at this time I think the Different entities we license have become very flexible and trying to work with us as well but this is all we've identified at this time we are mindful we're watching for those okay yes I just think it's important that we're mindful and continue to watch for those for our hospitals or nursing homes are a rehabilitation facilities anything like you know and not scope that we need to address I'd be interested to make sure that we're looking at that so I'll I'll and I appreciate that reshaping the rule before us and I will second senator Bledsoe aye motion and and not I would say to the committee Senator rice and I debated last week over this the NSA debated we deliberated would be the better word we're we're going to always make sure the committee has twenty four hours notice the rules are not totally suspect to that notice but we want to make sure that everybody has time and it and I know if energy to put into it to make sure that we know that these are viable before they come before the committee so I did want to say that senator I said you want to add anything to that. So C. N. center for the questions without objection the proposed merger rule will be reviewed and approved and review and approval shall be effective at twelve oh one on Wednesday October sixth two thousand two thousand twenty one seeing no further business for the committee we stand Jr.
