Our parliamentarian Buddy Johnson you are recognized to help explain. You're recognized Mister chairman. Thank you thank you Mr chairman members of the committee I appreciate the opportunity to present this up this bill we worked with the I worked with the our chief of staff for Ragland and with the Speaker to to develop this one bottom line feature this bills it reduces by five percent the appropriation authority in the you know for the the staff operations the it continues a trend that the Speaker Shepherd has pursued since he took office in his first year our appropriation was a reduction of a fifteen percent. A second years ten percent third years ten percent and this year will be five percent so continues that trend it's a. It. In the categories of the speaker's office staff and the member services staff which is only two categories were we have paid we have staff people it increases those totals by one and that that is in member services the reason for that is that one of the our staff people in administrative specialist who's who works in member services office had been under the the the speaker's office staff so we thought it was appropriate to go ahead and move that position from the speaker's office to member services for the where the person actually works of some other features personnel wise we a stab wish the position of the chief security officer sergeant at arms when Mr exposures came on he was temporarily an administrative specialist position and so we converted that position to the service of ours position And then we added and mystery receptionist position that had been field temporarily in one of the positions in member services office so that that was Of those those position ships and net result is an increase of one staff person for the House staff of some other adjustments in the bill or some which is a. Standard practice is we will review what the staff salaries are and if if a position is nearing the the top of the of a grade range I will try to adjust that grade range to give some wiggle room for that staff salary in so we have About. About ten us grave adjustments but again the bottom line is that the the seats before the appropriation thirty is is ultimately reduced by five percent. Any questions from the committee. All right fairly self explanatory this is the same thing that we do at the beginning of each year and and it's it's good to see the appropriations continue to decrease as we do our do our best to to do our part. What's the will of committee. A motion to pass any discussion on the motion. All right all in favor say aye. Any opposed. All right thank you stay on as chairman committee appreciate that all right. Next up is House resolution ten nineteen. Representative Alan. You are recognized understand we have an amendment first. Everybody have a copy of the amendment. Okay. Okay. We have a motion adoption of the amendment. All in favor say aye. The opposed all right motion. Is approved and we now are able to be able to present the resolution represent about. Thank you Mr chairman of this resolution is black history resolution month is that is the resolution to recognize the accomplishments of African Americans it was started nineteen twenty six and this is a bill that represent while present every year going back instrument so there is no exception with this so the Bill speaks for itself the appreciate a good vote okay. Any questions from the committee. I would like to commend you for your use of the word plethora on page two. That's not some to who we see in legislation too often.
