Sixty two good choice. The Speaker.
All right members. About two. We're about to go into a just a brief recess before we start committee selection I was advised that there maybe was an error in two members selection there actually side by side represent Dalby represent warrant and without objection that would allow them to swap we've allowed that. In the past in limited instances
hearing none that'll be done all right members we're going to do it's ten seventeen cents committee selection is based on seniority and to allow the caucuses to kind of look at how the seniority drawings for the new members we're going to stand in recess until ten thirty all right so the house caucus will stand in recess until ten thirty.
House caucus will come back to order. All right members were to move on to committee selection. And given that congressional redistricting occurred as it does every ten years that necessitated the review of the
caucus districts that are provided by in the House rules. Each of you should have received on a couple of occasions. An email with the proposed revised caucus districts those districts those caucus districts were. Esign to most closely aligned with the geographic makeup of each of the congressional districts there were a few instances where we had to look
it actual the size in each congressional district and population so and I believe myself. Has contacted those members those returning members whose districts moved from one district to another so everybody should have already been provided that for your review well before today. There any questions about those prevent proposed caucus districts.
If not without objection those will be the caucus district that we will utilized in picking the committee selection today. In accordance with House rule fifty four we now begin the process of standing committee membership selections as we proceed through this process please keep in mind that rule fifty four provides for members elect to trade committee memberships but only may do so before the close of business
today so please hear that any trades by rule or need to be made by close of business today and that something that you will need to coordinate with your caucus leadership as well as with my office the any trade should be made in writing and we have a form for that if you need to make a trade. And signed by the members or trading memberships the documentation also must be signed by the trading members political caucus leaders and by the Speaker of the house.
Also if necessary House rule fifty four authorizes the Speaker to make adjustments to committee memberships but only for the purpose of adjusting the majority and minority membership ratio. Are there any questions. Seeing none this parliamentarian if you would proceed with the committee selection thank you Mr Speaker members what we're what we're gonna do this of course is by the we'll go down the seniority list and I was that
what it will be displayed on the voting boards are the the selections of a committees B. committees council audit budget of bank caucus so for example when representative makes goes first of the second district caucus board will be up there and his his choice will be displayed there on the smaller boards down on the floor will be a running list of the
memberships as they are being selected on the on the individual committees and these won't be sorted by caucus the be sorted by the choice which would be by seniority so that's how all this is being displayed and I think there's some blank forms in your packet if you want to follow along and and keep up with with what's going on up here so to get started started seniority list representative makes a Mr parliamentarian real quick before we get started
members there are all these committee selections there's multiple factors I'm so we have caucus district we have seniority and then the party make up so. We have a number of staff that are keeping track with each aspect of it but if during this process you see something that you think is in error please stand up and we will recognize you to ask a question or to make that point we want to make sure as best we can to get this accurate and correct as we move
forward the other thing I would mention as I mentioned last night at at at dinner we're keeping the schedule as far as taking a lunch break so just I know some have have ask about that as far as some other things are going on at lunch so hopefully we can at least get through one select one of the selection of a committees before lunch but again if you see something that doesn't look right. Let let us know okay thank you. Thank you Mr Speaker. Representative Stephen Meeks.

Members same rules as far as trade trades is concerned. And this problem Terry and I believe there is one special rule is it A. L. C. that there's a county rule yes yes Sir Mr Speaker the rule with the Legislative Council and with the Joint arching Committee is that there may be no more than two members regular members of that from any given County. And we are staff is keeping up
with that so when there's two members from one county occupying the Legislative Council and the Joint onsen Committee visit regular committee positions will alert you to that. That rule is not applied to the Joint Budget Committee. Thank you your Speaker and also as we go through this and we fill out the regular of committee positions will take
