If you I just like to give a very brief argument and the and introduce some of our leadership staff. So at the department we have what it would be looked at as a division we call them centers there's five main centers in the department of health the first senate that we have is health advancement and they're responsible for they have branches chronic disease family health tobacco cessation nutrition and oral health.
The second one is health protection and we have some licensing and regulatory duties there we have health facility licensing we have injury prevention which houses are suicide call line in our prescription drug monitoring program they also have infectious disease immunizations and medical marijuana and I'm just given a broad overview there's there's a lot down in there we have the center for health
practice which actually has houses are registries two or three of those that we have trauma we have hospital discharge and we have the cancer registry there it also has our epidemiological branch you know which are it at these put together information on reports numbers data that kind of thing and then we have our vital records section there which of course does our our certificates death certificates we also have our public health lab.
Which is our fourth when they do newborn screening that test for TB day tests for sexually transmitted infections rabies blues mumps measles food drinking water and then last we have our local public health which is by far our largest center date we actually have a local health unit in all seventy seventy five counties some counties we actually have to in Pulaski County we have even more
than that we work in In conjunction and coordination with local officials there the counties usually own the buildings that were housed in the county's they're responsible for the building at keep maintenance that kind of thing and then we actually provide the the staff that for our clinics and their. And then in those clinics we do testing screening and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases to be we do some
prenatal care their immunizations we do floral varnish we do with it and then we have our own bottom environmental health specialist that actually go out look at restaurants septic systems that kind of thing and then of course with our star Matt we have our boards and commissions that he's over that and we we got twenty three of those during transformation so that's just a a broad overview of of what we
do with the Department. And if okay we have some staff here that I'd like to introduce so the child can put faces to names John Adams if you always if they can stand don Adams is our deputy director of administration he's also taken on the interim chief of staff responsibilities while I'm interim secretary we have Casey Cochran is our deputy director of programs
we have doctor Jennifer Delahaye who's our director initiative introduced her fire so I apologize for that We have a large issue Lara issue is our chief legal counsel you all will also see her a lot while the sessions going on another attorney with that we'll be over here a lot is Chuck Thompson and then of course you'll all know. Thank you for your call no matter who you see quite often that some of our
boards and commissions any also desire to legislatively eyes on our main one so that that's not a review for today. Thank you does anyone have any questions for you wanted departments health right now. Okay thank you that no thank you for coming to take the time everyone save these numbers I'm sure you'll be wanting to talk to them at some point as we move along your journey and that would procedure coming to visit with us today thank okay I do want to say this is my easiest
time I think ever after the table. Fine as time goes along. So there are a number of bills on the agenda and it's gonna take a little bit for me to get accustomed to going back to the old system pre covid the Bill says as I understand the rules currently gonna fall into the agenda is their fault The New ought still is this idea of which ones are going to need a fiscal impact or not ceiling consultant's has been tracking that real time but at least one or two these probably are going
to fall into that category it again I appreciate any input from the Committee on this process what I'm planning to do is have a separate list just like we do for scope for bills that are waiting on fiscal impacts so that everyone on the Committee everyone in the a public will know these bills cannot be heard and to the fiscal impacts back so we try to give a better real time idea of what bills we're going to actually be hearing on the day the committee meetings and of course also those early in the session were filed on bills and sometimes they're still not
quite ready run so we'll start with represent Pilkington yes several bills there are you ready running bills today represent Pilkington. Right now over three of because they do have Medicaid I'm still waiting for the sequels groups financial bank the content because monitoring legislation that we can put that on deferred I had a productive meeting this morning to DHS and its the base is going to happen without legislation which is the best kind of legislation so yeah I love it when that happens okay so maybe that one down to deferred in the other three I'll clarify on what on the fiscal
impact issued I'm not entirely sure if they're just Medicaid if they will have to look at that a representative you here today. Do you want a hot you want to run your bill today you want to move it. Do you want to keep it on the regular Jennifer downing on the movie to deferred. It Thursday okay you plan on hearing that on Thursday. Okay we'll put a hold you to it. represent matic system he's going to hold is bill for now in my two bills for now we can put down to
deferred and I'll I'll make sure alert everyone ready when I'm ready run those will put him back up on the regular agenda similar rules allow that process they would have any questions about any of this process procedural yes review Wardlaw. Thank you Mr can I get a request in to staff for paper I need a paper agenda and paper bills on a weekly basis please absolutely. The company that yes reserve Alan.
We we just we just read it ran the gamut woods do that will do that for everybody I want with the default will be you get paper unless you call me let me know you don't want paper in which case we want how about that. Yes. I understand representative Ladyman. Yes. You see I just let us know it I would encourage members and and you know my plan is to as tightly as we can if it's on the agenda I would like to try to run it so the audience knows is
prepared has an expectation I understand that can be challenging at times if you follow bill and you have the expectation that it's not going to be run let me know so we can maybe make some sort of comedy in the Jennifer not gonna move it to deferred you know maybe we can work out some way of comic is that you I don't want I got several calls as we can from people wondering about some of these bills and again we'll be feeling with the process gives you get just back to the rules because of it so I'd like to try to have things as tightly as possible if they're on the agenda The expectation be that we're going to hear them I know
that can be challenging will do the best we can to work through that. Any other questions from committee members. All right this a quick as many we're gonna have meeting adjourned.
