and minds this afternoon. On our mind are the things that we have heard and said in the last three days, words at times that seem hopeful and other times challenging. On our mind are those who are at home, including our family and friends, and those who have entrusted us with their best interests. Our minds are in Arizona and Haiti as we remember tragedies that have happened there.
On our mind is the great hope of making a difference and making our state a better one. With all that eternal God, we ask for your blessing upon our work this afternoon and the common good that is in this room and in our state. Help those that most have needed our prayer and attention. We pray this in the strong name of our Lord. Amen. to the lives of the United States of America and to the republic for which we stand on nations and on our individual

Nasnelli. Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Ladies and gentlemen of the House,
As you all know, we had some unusual weather Monday, and some of our proceedings here were unfinished, left unfinished. There were some members who were not able to make it to the opening day, which was on Monday. Our procedure today will be that I will invite each one of you members who were not here that I have a list of, and if there are others, you need to let us know that. But I will read the names of these members that we have. I want to invite you to stand and then follow the judge's instructions relative to the oath of office.
I am a little concerned about us voting on anything of any significance here that's not our own business without the oath of office being taken by your members. So, Mr. Speaker, I invite Mr. Cowling to stand, Ms. Hickerson to stand, Mr. King to stand, Mr. Powers to stand, Mr. Kerr to stand, Mr. Fred Smith to stand. Is there anyone else who was not here to take the oath of office on Monday, January 10th?
Is there someone else? Who is it? Ms. Slinkard? Ms. Slinkard, you're invited to stand, too. Thank you. Anyone else? Mr. Wood? Mr. Wood's invited to stand. Is there anyone else? Judge, you may proceed at your own liking. Mr.

Mr. Speaker, pursuant to the motion that was made by Ms. Tony Bradford on opening day to seat the 99 members of the House with the exclusion of District 24, then the seating of these members who just took the oath was already completed beforehand.
They were included in the motion that was adopted to be seated. So, ladies and gentlemen, House, everyone in here now, with the exception of District 24, is seated and has taken the
oath. Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Thank you, Mr.

Thank you, Mr. Speaker, and it's my great honor to call you, Mr. Speaker. Today, colleagues, we have House Resolution 1001, which is the rules of the House of Representatives. There are a few minor changes that have been made in the rules. If you will look to pages 6, 7, and 8, really what they deal with is some language that was put in.
If you look at rule number 12, it provides for appointment of a chief of staff, and rule 13 details his or her duties. Most of the changes that were made, as you can see, deal with the chief of staff. We did not have a position that was so titled previously, and this really outlines the duties of the Chief of Staff.
Other than that, there are no changes. Any questions? If not, I'd appreciate a favorable vote. Representative Klammer, what purpose?
