Good morning, all. Let's get started. Those who are wishing to speak for or against the bill, please be sure to sign in this morning over at the stand there. Before we get started, just a couple of announcements. Vice Chair Wilkins wanted you to know that he's not just playing hooky. He's in a meeting right now with state police, and he may be – we may get done before he gets back,
but he's going to try to get back here just as soon as he can. A few other housekeeping matters. Members, you may have seen now twice. I've emailed you some information from our extern, but I've not introduced you to our extern. I forgot to do that last week, so let me introduce for you all Nicholas Castile. Nicholas, would you stand up for us? Nicholas is working with our committee. He's a third-year law student at Bowen School of Law. And Nicholas is doing externship, and feel free to utilize him for legal research if you need help.
He is very bright and has been helpful to us already. We won't hold it against him, but he's from Louisiana. But he is very helpful, so please use him. And you guys have got an email from him, so you'll probably already have his email address. Also, I wanted to introduce Kimberly Weatherspoon with the Department of Community Correction. Kimberly, stand up there. Kimberly and I used to work at an AGES office. You have not seen her before, but she is the lawyer for the Department of Community Corrections. If you have any questions, you may want to see Kimberly. Thanks, Kimberly.
And I feel very safe today because we've got a lot of sheriffs with us, and I just want to recognize all the sheriffs that are here visiting the legislature. Thank you all for being here. We appreciate you all being here, Chuck. Thanks for having everyone here, and I have to take a point of personal privilege to say thanks for Sheriff Doc Holliday, Sheriff here in Placid County, my good friend. Thanks, Doc Holliday. Thank you. Thank each of you all for the work that you do. We appreciate you, and we just really thank you for being here. Chuck, does anybody want to say anything?

Thanks, Chuck. Did you just make me a share that you did? Thank you. Members, without objection,
we're going to go out of order. Representative Webb is here with the bill to run. I'm going to recognize her to run House Bill 1159. Representative Webb, welcome to House Judiciary. Go right ahead with your bill. MS. Thank you, Mr. Chair.

Thank you, members of the committee. It is a pleasure to be here. I served on this committee one time. me is Tony Shields from Department of Finance and Administration. If you will, this is really it's a government efficiency bill and it is what it says it is. It says that if you are using the electronic reporting system of the Office of Driver Services, that you don't have to mail your yellow copy in, that you can do it electronically. And what this means
is currently, when you get a ticket, the traffic court has to mail the yellow copy in to the Office of Driver Services within five business days after the disposition of the case. And the reality is that five courts already use an electronic system, but they still mail in the yellow copy. And somebody at DF&A still has to go through this, and we have to make Make sure that it's not entered twice. And more and more courts are going to an electronic system.
And so all we want to do is say that you don't have to mail that yellow copy in. It's going to make it easier on your local courts, less paperwork. It's going to make it easier on DF&A, less confusing. So it's just a government efficiency, and I'd appreciate a good vote.
Thank you, Representative Webb. Committee members, any questions for Representative Webb? No questions from
the committee. Any questions from the audience? Seeing none, what's the pleasure of the committee?
Representative Branson, can you recognize for a motion? I move to do pass. Members, the motion before the committee is do pass. All in favor say aye. Opposed, no.
Thank you, Representative Webb. Your bill passes. Thank you, members. Thank you, Mr. Chair. I appreciate it. Members, I've just been given a note that the other bill that I thought was running is not going to run, so we may
be done here. Let's just double-check. Representative Woods, he hadn't said anything.
I haven't seen him. Is he here? I've tried to reach him. No. Representative Lee is going to hold. Representative Edwards is going to hold. And Representative Hutchinson is going to hold until Thursday. So if I had known we had one bill, we might have delayed this. I apologize, but I was told there would be more bills. So unless someone has additional business, our committee stands adjourned. Thank you.
